زيارة الاربعين     Ziyarat-e- Arbaeen

 

 اَللّـهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِ مُحَمَّد

O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful.

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى وَلِيِّ اللهِ وَحَبيبِهِ

Peace be on you, O friend of Allah and His beloved

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى خَليلِ اللهِ وَنَجيبِهِ

Peace be on you, O close friend of Allah, and His distinguished (servant)

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى صَفِيِّ اللهِ وَابْنِ صَفِيِّهِ

Peace be on you, O chosen one of Allah, and the son of His chosen one

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى الْحُسَيْنِ الْمَظْلُومِ الشَّهيدِ

Peace be on You O Hussain, the oppressed, the martyr,

اَلسَّلامُ على اَسيرِ الْكُرُباتِ وَقَتيلِ الْعَبَراتِ

Peace be on you, O prisoner of sorrows and the one killed mercilessly

اَللّـهُمَّ اِنّي اَشْهَدُ اَنَّهُ وَلِيُّكَ وَابْنُ وَلِيِّكَ

O Allah, I bear witness that he is Your friend, and the son of Your friend

وَصَفِيُّكَ وَابْنُ صَفِيِّكَ الْفائِزُ بِكَرامَتِكَ

he is Your chosen one and the son of Your chosen one, the one who has achieved salvation through Your grace.

اَكْرَمْتَهُ بِالشَّهادَةِ وَحَبَوْتَهُ بِالسَّعادَةِ

You have honored him with martyrdom and have presented him happiness

وَاَجْتَبَيْتَهُ بِطيبِ الْوِلادَةِ

You have chosen him through a pure birth

وَجَعَلْتَهُ سَيِّداً مِنَ السادَةِ وَقائِداً مِنَ الْقادَةِ وَذائِداً مِنْ الْذادَةِ

and made him the chief of chiefs, the leader of leaders and the defender of defenders (of religion)

وَاَعْطَيْتَهُ مَواريثَ الاَنْبِياء وَجَعَلْتَهُ حُجَّةً عَلى خَلْقِكَ مِنَ الاَوْصِياءِ

You gave him the inheritance of the Prophets and made him Your proof over creation,

فَاَعْذَرَ فىِ الدُّعاءِ وَمَنَحَ النُّصْحَ

So he fulfilled the call and provided the advice

وَبَذَلَ مُهْجَتَهُ فيكَ لِيَسْتَنْقِذَ عِبادَكَ مِنَ الْجَهالَةِ وَحَيْرَةِ الضَّلالَةِ

and spent his efforts in Your way to save Your servants from ignorance and the confusion of deviation

وَقَدْ تَوازَرَ عَلَيْهِ مَنْ غَرَّتْهُ الدُّنْيا وَباعَ حَظَّهُ بِالاَرْذَلِ الاَدْنى

Those who have been encourage by the worldly life have supported and advised others against him

وَشَرى آخِرَتَهُ بِالَّثمَنِ الاَوْكَسِ وَتَغَطْرَسَ وَتَرَدّى فِي هَواهُ

and sold the share (of eternal bliss) for the lowest bargain

وَاَسْخَطَكَ وَاَسْخَطَ نَبِيَّكَ

and angered You and Your Prophet

وَاَطاعَ مِنْ عِبادِكَ اَهْلَ الشِّقاقِ وَالنِّفاقِ

and obeyed from among Your servants the unfortunate ones and the hypocrites

وَحَمَلَةَ الاَوْزارِ الْمُسْتَوْجِبينَ النّارَ

the bearers of burdens (of sins) inviting (themselves) to the fire

فَجاهَدَهُمْ فيكَ صابِراً مُحْتَسِباً

So he fought them in Your way, patiently, expecting (Your pleasure)

حَتّى سُفِكَ فِي طاعَتِكَ دَمُهُ وَاسْتُبيحَ حَريمُهُ

until his blood was shed whilst in Your obedience and his family was violated

اَللّـهُمَّ فَالْعَنْهُمْ لَعْناً وَبيلاً وَعَذِّبْهُمْ عَذاباً اَليماً

O Allah, curse them with a great cursing, and punish them with a painful punishment.

 

 

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ

Peace be on you, O son of the Messenger of Allah

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ الاَوْصِياءِ

Peace be on you, O chief of the successors

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ اَمينُ اللهِ وَابْنُ اَمينِهِ

I bear witness that you are the trusted one of Allah and the son of His trusted one

عِشْتَ سَعيداً

You lived a virtuous life

وَمَضَيْتَ حَميداً

and you passed away in a praiseworthy way

وَمُتَّ فَقيداً مَظْلُوماً شَهيداً

and you have died as a maltreated martyr

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ اللهَ مُنْجِزٌ ما وَعَدَكَ

I am certain that Allah will fulfill what He has promised you

وَمُهْلِكٌ مَنْ خَذَلَكَ

and He will destroy those who humiliated you

وَمُعَذِّبٌ مَنْ قَتَلَكَ

and punish those who killed you.

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ وَفَيْتَ بِعَهْدِ اللهِ

I bear witness that you fulfilled the pledge of Allah

وَجاهَدْتَ فِي سَبيلِهِ حَتّى اَتياكَ الْيَقينُ

and you struggled in His way until certitude (death) came to you

فَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ قَتَلَكَ

May Allah curse those who killed you

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ ظَلَمَكَ

and those who oppressed you

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ اُمَّةً سَمِعَتْ بِذلِكَ فَرَضِيَتْ بِهِ

and the nation that heard it and were pleased

 

اَللّـهُمَّ اِنّي اُشْهِدُكَ

O Allah, I ask You to witness that

اَنّي وَلِيٌّ لِمَنْ والاهُ

I am a friend of whosoever befriends him

وَعَدُوٌّ لِمَنْ عاداهُ

I am an enemy of whosoever is his enemy

بِاَبي اَنْتَ وَاُمّي يَا بْنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ

May my father and mother be sacrificed for you O son of the Messenger of Allah

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ كُنْتَ نُوراً فىِ الاَصْلابِ الشّامِخَةِ

I bear witness that you were a light

وَالاَرْحامِ الْمُطَهَّرَةِ

in lofty loins and purified wombs

لَمْ تُنَجِّسْكَ الْجاهِلِيَّةُ بِاَنْجاسِها

Paganism did not taint you with its impurity

وَلَمْ تُلْبِسْكَ الْمُدْلَهِمّاتُ مِنْ ثِيابِها

nor did the darkness (of ignorance) cover you with its cloak

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ مِنْ دَعائِمِ الدّينِ

I bear witness that you are from the pillars of religion

وَاَرْكانِ الْمُسْلِمينَ وَمَعْقِلِ الْمُؤْمِنينَ

and the leaders of the Muslims and the refuge of the believers

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ الاِمامُ الْبَرُّ التَّقِيُّ

I bear witness that you are the Imam (who is) the upright, the pious,

الرَّضِيُّ الزَّكِيُّ الْهادِي الْمَهْدِيُّ

well-pleased (with Allah), the pure, the guide, and the rightly-guided

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنَّ الاَئِمَّةَ مِنْ وُلْدِك

And I bear witness that the Imams from your progeny

كَلِمَةُ التَّقْوى وَاَعْلامُ الْهُدى وَالْعُرْوَةُ الْوُثْقى

are the maxims of piety, the signs of guidance, the strong rope,

وَالْحُجَّةُ على اَهْلِ الدُّنْيا

and the proofs of Allah over the people of the world.

وَاَشْهَدُ اَنّي بِكُمْ مُؤْمِنٌ وَبِاِيابِكُمْ مُوقِنٌ

And I bear witness that I believe in you and am certain about your return

بِشَرايِعِ ديني وَخَواتيمِ عَمَلي

and about the laws of my religion and the results of my deeds.

وَقَلْبي لِقَلْبِكُمْ سِلْمٌ

My heart is obedient to your heart

وَاَمْري لِاَمْرِكُمْ مُتَّبِعٌ

and my affair is in line with your affair

وَنُصْرَتي لَكُمْ مُعَدَّةٌ

my help is ready for you

حَتّى يَأذَنَ اللهُ لَكُم

until (the time when) Allah gives you permission

فَمَعَكُمْ مَعَكُمْ لا مَعَ عَدُوِّكُمْ

Then I am with you, and always with you; not with your enemies

 

صَلَواتُ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعلى اَرْواحِكُمْ

Blessings of Allah be on you, and on your souls

وَاَجْسادِكُمْ وَشاهِدِكُمْ

and your bodies, and when you are present,

وَغائِبِكُمْ وَظاهِرِكُمْ وَباطِنِكُمْ

and when you are hidden, and upon your perceivable aspects, and you innermost genius

آمينَ رَبَّ الْعالِمينَ

Ameen, Lord of the worlds.
